About
The Sensing Self is a movement practice community based in Rotterdam.

We develop our bodies comprehensively, exploring multiple disciplines and layers: from physical capacity and skills to body intelligence and personal meaning. This allows us to sense more, perform better, and live a fuller life.

We study movement as a language to express ourselves and communicate with our surroundings and other people.

We learn in structured classes while nourishing human connections beyond as well.

Key pillars of the practice

This practice supports not just physical skill, but overall well-being, making you feel more capable and alive in everyday life.
  • Well-rounded physicality

We train strength, mobility, coordination, balance, ground movement, and even a touch of acrobatics. Instead of isolated techniques only, we focus on core principles and adaptable patterns, building a body that’s capable, curious, and deeply aware.
  • Partner work

Connection is at the heart of what we do. Through playful tasks and shared challenges, we build trust, awareness, and the ability to respond to another person in real time. Partner work is where we learn to support, challenge, and be challenged, exploring boundaries and the joy of moving together.
  • Mind-body connection

Movement is a tool to explore your internal states. We engage with fear, discomfort, and uncertainty in structured ways, building resilience, trust, and self-awareness through embodied experience.
